Bringing High Expectations Back to Education

  • December 4, 2024 - 4:00 pm ET

Over the past decade, American schooling has abandoned its focus on safe, orderly schools and high academic expectations in favor of social and emotional learning and trauma-informed pedagogy, particularly in schools serving low-income students and children of color. In his provocative forthcoming book—The Lost Decade: Returning to the Fight for Better Schools—the Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research’s Steven F. Wilson argues for restoring rich curriculum and high standards to American education.

Join AEI, in partnership with the Thomas B. Fordham Institute and the Progressive Policy Institute, as Mr. Wilson presents on the need to return to successful education models and school cultures, followed by a panel with education experts on bringing high standards and expectations back to American schools.

If you are unable to attend in person, a video livestream will be made available on this page.
