CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING:

Is Inflation Still Low in the Digital Economy?

TODAY @ 11:00AM ET

Join the Progressive Policy Institute for a virtual educational webinar for Congressional staff on the state of inflation in the digital economy and what factors are working to help keep inflation in this industry very low.

The briefing will dive deep into Marshall Reinsdorf’s upcoming report, entitled “Is Inflation Still Low in the Digital Economy?”

Although inflation has been skyrocketing in nearly every sector of the traditional economy, it remains significantly lower in the digital economy, and because of the pace of change during the pandemic, the impact of low digital inflation is likely being undercounted.

Furthermore, low-inflation industries such as data processing and internet publishing, telecommunications, and ecommerce have high rates of capital investment compared to high-inflation industries in the traditional economy oil and gas extraction and paper goods production. Is capital investment part of the inflation puzzle?

WHAT: Virtual Congressional briefing for staff and interns

WHEN: Tuesday, May 10; 11:00AM – 12:00PM ET; Zoom

PANELISTS: Michael Mandel, Vice President and Chief Economist, Progressive Policy Institute; Marshall Reinsdorf, former Senior Economist at the IMF and former Chief of the National Accounts Economic Research Group at the Bureau of Economic Analysis

Please note: This bipartisan briefing is open to all Congressional staff and interns. The panel will share policy proposals to address this issue.
