On July 22nd RAS hosted a conversation on educational equity under COVID-19. “To Open or Not to Open: Educational Equity under COVID” that debated school openings in America under COVID-19 and what health, policy, and budgetary factors school systems should consider before making a decision grounded in educational equity.
Panelists include:
- Dr. Leana Wen, Visiting Professor at George Washington University, Former Baltimore City Health Commissioner.
- George Parker, Former President of Washington Teacher’s Union. George is a Senior Advisor at the National Alliance of Public Charter Schools
- Alma Marquez, La Comadre and Co-Founder of National Parents Union. Alma V. Marquez is Founder of Del Sol Group, a communications and public affairs firm.
- Paul Vallas, Former School Superintendent of Bridgeport (CT), Recovery School District of Louisiana (New Orleans), Philadelphia (PA), and Chicago (IL). Paul G. Vallas is a nationally recognized education and public sector finance expert with forty years’ service working in the public interest.
