Sloane Hurst is a globally respected nonprofit advisor with more than 20 years of experience in organizational strategy, leadership, development, and communications. As a fractional Chief Development and Marketing Officer for major NGOs across sectors, including climate, higher education, K-12 reform, and policy think tanks, Sloane helps mission-driven organizations design and execute transformational growth strategies.
At the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI), Sloane Hurst serves as Senior Advisor, overseeing all foundation relations and managing strategic partnerships that fuel the organization’s research and impact. In addition to stewarding philanthropic support, she provides high-level project management and operational support to the Office of the President, helping to drive PPI’s mission forward with clarity, coordination, and results.
Her career spans executive leadership roles—serving as Executive Director of the Arthritis Foundation and National Fundraising Director for both the Democratic Leadership Council and the Progressive Policy Institute—as well as over a decade of high-impact consulting for clients such as George Washington University, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and other leading philanthropic institutions. Her work often focuses on long-term organizational change, stakeholder engagement, and next-generation leadership.
In addition to her consulting work, Sloane serves as an adjunct professor of nonprofit management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management.
