Yen Jeong is the Broadband Access and Digital Equity Fellow at OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates. She manages the AAPI Digital Access Survey that is being conducted to understand where and how AAPIs have internet access to identify the diverse needs and challenges they face. She also works with community leaders to raise awareness and enrollment rates of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a government benefit that helps more households access broadband service and digital devices. Her work aims to challenge the model minority myth and bridge the digital divide among AAPI communities in today’s tech-centric world.
Raised in Jakarta, Indonesia and Yong-in, Korea, Yen is bilingual in Korean and English. She completed her master’s degree in Educational Equity, Justice, and Social Transformation from the University of Michigan while focusing on classifying microaggressions that Asian American students and teachers experienced in public schools. She received her dual bachelor’s degree in Education and Global Cooperation from Sookmyung Women’s University.
