Ed Gresser from the Progressive Policy Institute says that while the trade truce has been extended, there is still little common ground between the U.S. and China for a more substantive trade agreement. He adds that while the U.S.-China trade deficit has narrowed, imports from Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, have surged, meaning the overall U.S. trade balance has changed little.
