Weinstein for Forbes: Amtrak’s New Trains Are Not Fast—Yet.

In September I had the opportunity to travel on Amtrak’s new, NextGen Acela trainsets. Here’s the good news, these trains are a major upgrade over the first generation Acela in terms of comfort, ride, and amenities.

The ride is smoother than any train I have taken in the United States–you can walk the whole train without falling into someone’s lap. This increased stability is largely due to the fact that the cars share wheel-sets, which cuts down on side-to-side movement between each cabin. Once the improved tilting system is activated, the ride should be even smoother.
