Deborah Mattinson

Deborah Mattinson is a leading British pollster and strategist, who was Director of Strategy to UK Labour leader Keir Starmer July 2021 until Labour won the General Election of July 2024. Prior to this, she cofounded the research and strategy consultancy Britain Thinks, and was pollster to Gordon Brown when he was British Chancellor of the Exchequer, and then as Prime Minister. She is the author of two books on public opinion, “Talking to a Brick Wall” (2010), and “Beyond the Red Wall” (2020). In 2024, Deborah was nominated for a life peerage by Keir Starmer, and sits in the House of Lords as Baroness Mattinson of Darlington.
