Danielle Steitz

Director of National Security Policy

Danielle Steitz is the Director of National Security Policy at the Progressive Policy Institute. 

Prior to joining PPI, Danielle served as a Policy and Strategy Analyst with the Joint Staff, where she supported the Directorate for Strategy, Plans, and Policy on a range of issues including security cooperation, stability operations, and humanitarian engagement. Danielle also served as an Oversight Program Manager at U.S. Cyber Command, where she enabled the development and execution of cyber operations. 

Danielle began her career as a Senior Clerk with the House Armed Services Committee, where she supported the development and passage of five annual National Defense Authorization Acts, with a particular focus on military personnel policy. 

Danielle holds a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a bachelor’s degree in international studies and political science from American University. She was awarded the Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Medal for her service and accomplishments on the Joint Staff.
